i'm all for a nicer GUI especially since its a sort of game. What i suggest we do, is have a background image of a stage like this:

And code to have an image of each instrument come on when the corresponding sound clip is played (that is when the fiducial is placed on the table). This way there is an educational aspect involved in that the child can associate the sound with the instrument. It will also tie in with the "orchestra" theme we have planned.
What do u think? I think that would be more than enough :)
Sounds good, shouldn't be too complex to code either, just link existing sound variables to display images, and have a background image..

i agree! this is definitely more appealing than a black and white line to capture the user's attention.
ReplyDeleteThe image can also have the name of the instrument under it as to make it more educational, as the children might not necessarily know what a bongo is. (for example :P)

ReplyDeleteI can come up with a prototype that we can then incorporate into the GUI of the actual finished logic.
Besides that I've been looking into adding another webcam for the recording of sound files that will repeat on the digital surface of the Fiducial to more easily keep track of the looping and it also adds a visual appeal to the project.
Besides that I think we should move our first meeting forward to Friday. If none of you can make it during the day I suggest we organize it in the evening so we can start using the mics, work area, projector and other instruments at EF and start collaborating our work and divide tasks between us, because atm everyone is just doing their own thing.
We should also meet on Sunday to get the presentation preparation and practice out of the way.
