Challenge?

In light of information which has been received during todays lecture, it has been made clear that we need to add some form of challenge to the code, to make it seem like more of a game.

Here's my suggestion:
How about adding two more UIs, first of which being a main menu, which prompts user to pick between Sandbox Mode (what we currently have), and Challenge Mode, in which random instruments will play, and user must guess what instrument is playing.

Any thoughts/opinions?

  1. not a bad idea at all... however, i think we would need to revisit the instruments we currently have to ensure that they are distinct as to not make it impossible to guess which is which.

  3. To add to this, we can place four instrument names on screen, play an instrument and the user must place the correct fiducial. This will challenge the user to associate sounds with the name and image of the instrument

  4. i really like this idea. we can also take it a step further by add levels. with each level the number of instrument names can increase thus making it harder to guess (ex: level 1: pick 1 of 2 instruments therefore 50% chance of getting it right)....

    or....

rather than increasing the number of names... removing them completely for higher levels.

  5. Yes, sounds like a good idea....

What about replacing the instruments with sounds (beats/loops)? Then the fiducials could be used as knobs for changing say, the frequency of the sounds. Also one fiducual can be used to start recording live music and another to replay the music recorded. The objective of this game would be creating music.

  7. What rules will u have then for the game? how would you judge the "correctness" of the music created in order to differentiate between a good or bad one in accordance with the rules..? there would have to be a way to judge the music created (to be able to stick to the game rules) which i think would be abit hard...
